No, we haven't fallen off the face of the earth....

It just seems like it....

It's been over 3 months since I've posted and things have changed dramatically! After working very part-time and subbing Dan now has a full-time teaching job at the H.S. near our house and is LOVING his fellow teachers and students.
I am cutting back my hours at work to 2 weekends a month and am going to school part-time for my PNP (Peds Nurse Practitioner) degree (18 more months!). And Jackson....
Can climb stairs, stand, walk, stack things, has 6 teeth and can say- Mama, Dada, All done, Amen, Up, Bye, Hi, Teeth, and make animal noises for sheep, horse, cow, dog, and lion(his favorite).
He is growing up so fast and definitely looks like a toddler now... no more baby here.
One week from today is his 1st birthday!! I can't believe that it's been a whole year since he was born (or since I was hugely prego and couldn't remember what my normal body even looked like).
I have truly treasured each and every moment with my little guy and am so thankful to have him in my life. (Though grocery shopping would be easier on my own... :-) ).

I'll be sure to post some pics soon.

So big

Jackson has been crawling for a month and a half now and is getting quite speedy at it. If you glance away for even one second he off and usually into something he's not supposed to be in. He loves to play with all of Daddy's 'toys' the remote, the Xbox, the computer and Daddy's cell phone. Anything with buttons or that lights up. :-) True boy.

I have been a little frustrated after Jackson's huge developmental explosion at the end of May that I haven't really seen much progress but then I realized he is developing more fine motor skills right now. He has a great pincer grasp and LOVES to feed himself (or put things like pieces of fuzz and dried leaves in his mouth... needless to say Daddy now vaccums every night before bed). He can say "da da" now and he LOVES to shake his head no when we ask questions (I think because Daddy and I laugh every time he does it). He also has learned the meaning of No. If he is reaching for something and we tell him, "no no we don't touch that" he stops and turns around to face us without touching the object. Now like all kids he doesn't always listen but he's pretty good.

He's also begining to develop some separation anxiety and loves to cling to Mommy, and crawl to mommy and pull up on my legs. Not that I mind being needed! :-)

I also think he's working on tooth #3. Lastnight he was a drooly, snotty, fevered mess, but he seems to be doing better today.

I have loved watching Jackson grow and change and become his own person these past few months and I have loved the relationship that we share! Nothing in his world is better than mommy :-)

Tooth.... no, Teeth!

Last Wednesday (May 20) Jackson was exceptionally cranky, I just chalked it up to teething or tiredness or gas. Well when Thursday arrived what should I discover... a tooth!! One little sharp tooth in Jackson's mouth! My little baby is growing up. Then on Memorial Day Jackson again was crabby overnight and what should I find in the morning... a SECOND TOOTH! In less than a week we've gone from a no teeth baby to a two toothed baby. Jackson still loves to chew on things, now when he chews on his wooden blocks you can hear those little teeth scraping against the wood. When they get a little bigger I'll post a picture of them :-)

6 months old!

Well, it's 4:30am and I have a fever of 103.5 (yep so toasty and hot) so of course I have nothing better to be doing than blogging, I can't sleep- my back hurts and my throat hurts :-P You may be thinking, "girl you need some medication..." oh wait I'm already on antibiotics! Grrr.... Well enough about me let me update you on my darling boy!

Jackson is almost 6 1/2 months now! He's 16lb 5oz (almost 10lbs more than his birth weight and over 10lbs more than his going home weight of 5lb 14oz) He's also currently 26.25 inches long!! I am amazed at how tall he's getting he's in the 40th precentile for ht and the 27th for weight.

Dan has declaired that he LOVES this age! (I like all of them but I do miss my newborn sometimes). I think the fact that Jackson smiles huge grins at his Daddy when Daddy comes home from work is what has won him over. Dan can't get enough of that grin.

We've started Jackson on other baby foods now (besides oatmeal)- Sweet potatoes, bananas, apple sauce (doesn't seem to like the apple sauce and he won't eat the foods by themselves (pardon my spelling- remember my brain is being cooked rightnow) they have to be mixed with his oatmeal. We are also giving him pieces of graham crackers and animal crackers and he seems to like them sometimes. I've been making our baby food which has been a lot of fun (though Jackson HATES the blender sound, he also now HATES the vaccum, oh well).

No forward movement yet, only backward scootches still though he can manuver quite well around the bathtub in a forward motion while sitting (I think he can't figure out why it won't work on the carpet).

No teeth either, just LOTS and LOTS and LOTS of drooling!!!!!! We must go through 2 bibs a day with drooling not to mention eating (speaking of eating I forgot to mention that Dan refuses to feed Jackson- I think the trauma with the rice cereal scared him off, that and he thinks feeding the baby is way too messy :-) ).

Jackson will finally roll from front to back (he's been doing back to front only for months) what a relief that is for Mommy! (I tend to worry alot- like is he still breathing at night, etc- Nurses sometimes know too much!).

I will post pictures later because they are on the other computer. I am starting to ramble and forget what I am saying so I think I must try to go back to bed and maybe break this fever. Sigh...

Rockin' and a Rollin'

Well lastnight Jackson decided that he was ready to try something new... his old tricks were no longer good enough and after some trial and error learned that he can indeed push himself up onto his hands and knees and rock! (well for a few seconds anyway). So cute to see him rocking and grinning. Babyproofing here we come!!

Jackson has also learned how to move around some by scooting... not forward though mind you, only backward. He pushes himself up on his arms and then scoots backward across the floor. Crazy little man but we love him! It's hard to believe in less than a week he'll be 6 months old!!

What happened?

Ok so 5 months must be some magic time because it seems like overnight Jackson has changed from a sweet little boy to a boy who is kinda crabby at times (more crabby than normal- which really isn't all that crabby but noticeably different). He is more temperamental now about eating, the other day he kept hitting his oatmeal spoon because he didn't want it and there was oatmeal EVERYWHERE! He fights sleep and squirms all over his bassinet and pack-n-play and cries because he is over tired but doesn't want to go to sleep. Sigh.
He gets angry if we lay him down and he wants to sit or sit him and he wants to stand or stand him and he wants to sit or lay down. I think he's going to be one of those kids who likes to be on the go... It's hard trying to guess which one he wants and he gets mad when we guess wrong. (I can't wait till he can start signing back some of his baby sign!)
He is still my super cute super wonderful, lovable guy but this new turn definitely took me by surprise because he was soooo mellow and now is a little more demanding of things but hey, I know one day I'll look back and say... "Remember when he was only 5 months old..."
Every day is a new adventure!
The boys on Daddy's bike
(Don't worry Jackson didn't actually ride the bike with Daddy).
